Supply Chain Disruption
Thursday, 15 November 2012 14:41

A recent BCI report has revealed that three out of four firms experienced at least one supply chain disruption in 2012.

The report, published by the Business Continuity Institute, highlights that effectively managing supply chain continuity is critical not just because of the immediate costs of disruption, but also the longer-term consequences to stakeholder confidence and reputation that may arise following a supply chain failure.

The survey results indicated that the top three threats that are most likely to cause a disruption to supply chains were:

  1. IT telecoms failure - 52%
  2. Adverse weather - 48%
  3. Service failures by outsourcers - 35%

The survey reported that 75% of companies within the UK consider supply chain disruptions within their continuity plans - are you one of them?
